HISTORY

1831

The original building was a coach house. The Inn takes its name from the hand drawn ferry which took people across the River Stour.

1858

Bell cast by John Warner & Sons.

1927

Bell cast by Gillett & Johnston as the clock bell for the John Roan School, according to the tuning book. Whether it ever made it as far as the school we don't know. The school appears to have its own clock bell which was either a replacement for this one or its original.

2006

Dickon Love observed the two bells hanging from the ceiling in the pub. The Warner bell has an iron clapper, the Gillett bell does not.
