Inscriptions

History

1868 A school was built for the Reading Street village part of St Peter's parish. A small bell was purchased from John Warner & Sons. The school was used for teaching and for worship.
1907 A tin tabernacle holding 250 people was built and dedicated by the Bishop of Dover. Shortly afterwards the foundation stone of the new church was laid.
1910 A new bell was cast and hung for swing chiming with a lever by John Warner & Sons Ltd in the south west tower.
1911 The church was consecrated by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Randall Davidson on Sun 10 Apr.
1975 The small bell, dated 1868, was rescued from the village school by the St Peter in Thanet ringers, who cleaned it up and made an ornamental frame for it.
c 1995 The steel girders on which the bell hung threatened collapse. It was rehung on wooden beams with all new fittings by Eayre & Smith.
1999 Major rebuilding project on the church.
2010 A new parish of St Andrew, Reading Street was formed, within the Broadstairs Group Ministry (Holy Trinity Broadstairs, St Peter in Thanet and St Andrew Reading Street.
