History

1596 or 97 A bell was cast by Anthony Wakefield. There are records of 2 bells being cast at this time.
1612 4th (of 5) cast by Joseph Hatch.
1615 2nd (of 5) cast by Joseph Hatch.
1617 3rd (present 6th) and tenor (of 5) cast by Joseph Hatch.
1622 A bell was cast.
1633 Treble (of 5; present 4th) cast by John Wilnar.
c 1700 Sanctus bell cast.
1734 Treble added to make 6, by Richard Phelps.
1824 Tenor recast by Thomas Mears.
1847 2 trebles added to make 8 and 7th recast by Charles & George Mears.

1904 5th recast and bells rehung in a new frame by Mears & Stainbank.
1913 The local band split into 2 groups, one favouring methods and the favouring call changes. The call change contingent resigned while the method contingent went on to quickly master Grandsire Triples. This highlighted the need to rehang the tenor, which Mears & Stainbank did. [1]
