Inscriptions

History

c 1480 -1500 Bell cast by Thomas Bullisdon.
1552 Record of 4 bells in the tower. [1]
1661 2 bells (at least) recast by John Hodson.
c 1850 One of the bells was cracked while it was "rung" with a hammer while it was clapperless.
1890 Tenor added by John Taylor.
1920 Treble added or recast: tower now contains 5 bells.
1930 5 trebles added by Gillett & Johnston and hung in a new frame.
1970 9th and 10th clappers rebushed and tenor rehung on ball bearings.
[1] Item on litle hand bell of brasse. Item iiij bells in the steple suted of brasse. (Edwardian Inventory, 1552)
