History

1608 Churchwardens Accounts note work on the third bell, therefore it is assumed that there were at least 4 bells in the tower at this time.
1729 Bells recast with additional metal into a ring of 6 by Samuel Knight, hung by Job Potter.
1752 5th recast by Lester & Pack.
1757 Record of 6 bells in the tower. [1]
1786 3rd recast by William Mears.
1959 Bells retuned and rehung in a new frame lower in the tower by John Taylor.
1970 4th recast by Whitechapel.
[1] This Church consists of the Chancell, Body, and 2 Side Isles. The Steeple stands in the Middle, between The Chancell and the Body; in it hang 6 Bells, all cast in the Year 1729 by Samuel Knight. (Rev’d Bryan Faussett, 1757)
