History

1720 Ring of 8 cast by Richard Pehlps.
1760 Record of 8 bells in the tower. [1]
1923 Bells rehung in a new frame by Mears & Stainbank.
1984 Clappers refurbished.
1991 Ringing moved upstairs to a new ringing room.
2002 The canons broke on the 2nd bell.
2003 The 2nd was fitted with a new headstock which allowed the remains of the canons to be retained (at the insistance of English Heritage).
[1] This Church consists of The Great, North, and South Chancells. The Body, and an Isle to The South. The Tower, which is cap’t with a lowish Spire coverd wth. Lead, stands at The W. End of The Body: In which hang 8 musical Bells, all made by R. Phelps 1720. (Rev’d Bryan Faussett, 1760)
