History

1294 Parish formed out of the vast ancient parish of Reculver. It stands at one of the few points where the old Isle of Thanet could be forded.
1615 Present 3rd and 5th cast.
1625 Present 2nd cast.
1692 Present tenor cast.
1793 Record of 5 bells in the tower (Cozens). [1]
1807 3rd (of 5) recast by Thomas Mears.
1923 Bells rehung, 3rd (of 5) recast and treble added to make 6 by Alfred Bowell. [2]
1956 New ringing room floor put in.
1982 Frame foundation strengthened.
[1] There is a handsome tower at the West end, and in it are five bells. (A Tour the the Isle of Thanet and Some other Parts of East Kent, Cozens, Zechariah, 1793)
[2] To rehanging the bells, strengthening the old framework, recasting 3rd of 5 bell and adding a sixth bell £262-10-0. Paid Cq. 25 July 1923. New treble 6-0-6. Recast 4th of six 10-0-9. (Bowell records, 16 July 1923)
