Inscriptions

History

1371 -92 Bell cast by William Burford, destined to become the 4th (of 5). This bell is now the Sanctus Bell.
1520 -9 Tower built.
1609 Bell cast by Stephen Swan, destined to become the tenor.
1660 Treble and 2nd (of 5) cast by John Hodson.
1758 3rd (of 5) recast by Lester & Pack.
1848 29th Feb Whitechapel Day Book notes that a new frame for 5 bells was provided and the fittings were repaired at a cost of £70.12.6, and five new wheels were provided for an extra £10.
1874 Formerly a chapelry within Kemsing parish, a separate parish was created in this year.
1886 Tenor recast and treble added to make 6 by John Warner.
1957 5th recast. The crown and inscription band of the old 5th was turned off and preserved in the church.
2006 Whitechapel replaced most of the fittings, assisted by the KCACR.
