History

1552 Record of 4 bells. [1]
1722 Bells recast into a ring of 4 by John Waylett.
1723 Tenor added by John Waylett to make 5.
1757 Record of 5 bells in the tower. [2]
1799 Record of 4 bells in the tower. [3]
1873 The ringing room was moved from the ground floor (where a vestry was then built) to its present position.
1892 Saddleback tower roof replaces with the existing one.
1911 3rd (of 5) reported to be cracked.
1912 Bells recast into a heavier ring of 6 and rehung in a new frame.
1967 Bells were overhauled.
1971 Bells rehung on ball bearings by Whitechapel.

[2] "This Church consists of a Chancell, Body, and North Isle. The Steeple, in which hang 5 Tuneable Bells, is a pointed Tower, and stands at The West End. The Bells have no other Inscriptions, but that they were made in 1722 & 1723, by John Waylett, and Thomas Pepper, Junior." (Rev’d Bryan Faussett, 1757)
[3] At the west end is a square tower, having a tile ridge roof on it, which disfigures the rest of the building much. There are four bells in it. ('The History and Topographical Survey of the County of Kent. Vol 8', Edward Hasted)
