How the bells are tuned |
History |
1460 | -1485 | Present treble, 2nd and tenor cast (the third may have also been cast at this time).
1772 | 3rd recast by Pack & Chapman.
1867 | Bells rehung in a new 2-tier frame.
1980 | Tower declared unsafe for the bells to be rung.
1990 | Bells run by a maverick band of ringers (this is the last known ring on the bells). During the 1990s, the church put in a loudspeaker system. They were granted a retrospective faculty for this, provided they initiated measures to restore the bells. Nothing was done for a long time.
2009 | The bells were rehung and the 2-tier frame was modified into 3 tiers. A new treble was cast by Taylors Eayre & Smith and a 2nd hand bell was donated by the Keltek Trust (origin unidentified, but came from a farmer in Wales). |
