    History

    1929 The Roman Catholic church of the Good Shepherd was built along with an associated primary school.
    1930 A bell was provided for the school from John Taylor & Co. [1]
    1940 The school and church were severely damaged in the war.

    [1] Bell for Downham R.C. School, near Bromley, ordered by Mr. E.H. Burgess, Building Contractor etc, 45 Berners Street, London W1. Order no.105. Bell 14⅞" diameter, nominal 2502hz, weight 0-3-2. Supplied with A fittings (headstock with lever, gunmetal bearings, clapper and rope). Forwarded 26 March 1930; Inscription book 9 p.144 - Downham, Kent, R.C. School. 15" bell.
