History

1921 Lady Laura Marie Waterlow, the wife of local landowner Sir Philip Waterlow, established a children's convalescent home at Fairseat Manor, a farmhouse property they owned in the village.
1930 A chapel was built for the children by Sir Philip Waterlow, in memory of his wife, who had died in 1929. It was consecrated on 26 Aug. The church was designed by Michael Waterhouse. A gatehouse was built at the entrance to the churchyard and a bell was hung under a small shelter over the entrance arch. [1]
