HISTORY

c.1420 Bell cast by William Powdrell, being the treble of 3, now serving as the 4th.
1721 2 of the 3 bells were recast into 3 which formed bells 1, 3, and 4 around the Powdrell bell. Bells cast by Samuel Knight and hung by Job Potter.
1757 Rev'd Bryan Faussett wrote:
This Church consists only of the Chancell, and Body, and has a very low shingled Spire at the West, in which hang 4 small Bells, all of them cast, in the Year 1721.
1799 Edward Hasted wrote:
The church, which is dedicated to St. Mary, consists of one isle and one chancel, having at the west end a low pointed turret of wood, projecting over the lower part of it. Which is built of brick. In it are four bells.
1885 The 4 bells were rehung.

1926

1926 3 Sept: to recasting treble bell and rehanging the four bells £70. Extra to bolting the old framework and strengthening same with oak braces. £12. Total £82. Paid cq. 20 Sept 1926.
1927 Bells rehung and 3rd recast by Alfred Bowell.
1935 2 trebles cast by Alfred Bowell to augment the peal to 6.

1935 30 Mar: To supplying two new treble bells £95. To two new bell ropes & carriage £2-2-0. Total £97-2-0. Paid. Cq on a/c £50 2 Apr 1935. Cq £47-2-0. 3 May 1935
