* In 1885, this bell was invoiced in at Whitechapel at 15-2-14, and out again at 15-2-8. This bell has been chip-skirted (presumably by Joseph Hatch) and had also been lightly tuned in the lower waist, which must be put down to the 1885 restoration. It was unusual for Mears to perform tuning on bells at that time. Of course, it has now been tuned further in 1996 (quite savagely ... 10% of the weight was lost in the process, which does not include the canons which had already been removed).
