1665

One of the bells was recast, weighing 4½ cwt. The remainder were rehung with new wheels and fittings.

1758 Rev'd Bryan Faussett wrote:
This Church consists of the Great, and North Chancells; The Body, and an Isle to the North. In a small wooden Steeple, capt. with a leaded Spire, at ye West End, hang 5 Bells, thus inscribed.
1. Sam. Knight me Fecit. 1725.
2. Ditto.

4. William Slodden, Thomas Taylor, Ch. Wardens, S.K. Fecit. 1725.
5. James Brockman, Esq. S.K. Fecit. 1725.

[James Brockman appears to have been Lord of the Manor at Newington and also the Patron and no doubt benefactor of the bells]
1799 Edward Hasted wrote:
The church, which is dedicated to St. Nicholas, consists of two isles, the northern one being both small and low, and two chancels, having a wooden pointed turret set on the roof at the west end, in which hang five bells.
