HISTORY

1552

Record of 3 bells in the tower.

1608

Middle bell recast by Joseph Hatch.

1622

Tenor recast.

c.1770

The upper stage of the tower was rebuilt: the tenor and treble (of 3) were sold.

1887

Stahlschmidt only recorded one bell in the tower.

2002

Bell fittings refurbished by John Taylor and Co. and rehung by the Kent CACR. The staple was drilled out; the medieval clapper received a new top end; the headstock, gudgeons and bearings were replaced with the refurbished 1887/1935 Warner/Mears ones from Hernhill 7th: the only new items are the independent crown staple and the chiming lever !
