2000 The church was successful in bidding for a grant from the Millennium Commission to allow the bells to be rehung in the existing frame with new fittings. The bells were tuned and the 4th (which was of poor tone and heavily drilled) was rehung as a service bell. Its place in the ring was taken by a new bell. The work was carried out by John Taylor & Co.
OLD PHOTOGRAPH |
![]() |
This is a photograph (cleaned up with the help of computer software) of the old five bells taken down in 1920 by Alfred Bowell. The 2nd and 3rd were recast in that year, the back two recast in 1923 and the remainding bell in 2000. These pictures should give a clue as to how the inscriptions were arranged (to be appended to the site shortly). |
