Nick Davies inspected this bell on 3rd Feb 2004. It is stored in the fashion warehouse that is De Bradley Wharf in Dover. The bell used to be Dover Lighthouse bell.

Nick describes it as follows:

The bell, as you can see, is quite a nice casting although it looks as though someone has had a go at buffing it up!.  Cast as expected with a button cap, it has a moulding wire arrangement of 3-2-2-3-2.  The principle dimensions are:
Diameter:  34 ins
Shoulder circumference:  64 ins
Lip to shoulder tangent:  24 ins.

The inscription on the waist is in 1 inch high pseudo-gothic capitals.

The bell is quite good for tone; I did not pitch it but it sounds about C/B. The mark made by the external hammer can be clearly seen; I could not examine inside (did not have my limbo-dancer kit with me), but had a feel around and was surprised to find the internal soundbow quite rough and pitted, almost as though an internal clapper had been contacting over a wide area.
