The inscription was taken from the Gillett & Johnston Order Book. It presumably also bore the inscription "CAST BY GILLETT & JOHNSTON, CROYDON. 1890" in the inscription band.

HISTORY

1886-1890

Church build by Arthur Causton. Whilst it had no tower, the church was equipped with a bell of 14lbs in a frame (founder unknown).

1890

The existing bell was replaced with a new bell by Gillett & Johnston (order dated 27th Nov 1889) for £45. It was hung on a new beam. The foundry took the old bell away together with the existing frame.

1910

New tower built; ring of bells cast and hung by John Taylor. This work was done in memory of John Wheeler-Bennett, C.B.E., J.P. The fate of the old bell is not yet known.

1929

Bells rehung on ball bearings.
